LEADERSHIP ERROR IN THE CORPORATE WORLD: WHAT NEED TO BE DONE NOW

21st century came with a lot of dynamism, discoveries, ingenuity and jet movement in all aspect of human endeavors. Leadership being a central factor in d global radical change is not left behind as it remains a key, where everything rises and falls in this era of economic and human capital revolution. From the late 20th century to this early 21st century, organization managerial settings experienced a paradigm shift from management focus to leadership base. That means, you longer manage organizations, rather you lead the people and the people grow the organizations.
However, despite this unprecedented radical change, many leaders of organizations still perceive leadership as a race and therefore run to win alone. I refer to them as CLIMBERS because their focus is on themselves alone. While the real leaders see leadership as a journey and want others to travel with them to the destination. I call these people BUILDERS.
The difference between the two is on their style of leadership.

*The first thing you have to know about CLIMBERS is that they think vertically. Their interest and concerns are to rush, get to the top and become only person in charge and exercises control over others. BUILDERS think horizontally. Their interest is how do I carry others along so they can travel with me and grow to their maximum potential. They focus their thinking on making others.
*CLIMBERS focus on position. Their interest is to acquire position so they make others conform to their desires and their interest. BUILDERS focus on a relationship. They understand that relationship is the foundation of leadership. They know their height of influence is determined by the height and strength of their relationship.
*CLIMBERS value competition. They are much concerned on how to be ahead of others to issue commands. BUILDERS value cooperation. They are much concerned on collaborating with others, winning their hearts and getting best from them so they can build a best organization.
*CLIMBERS seek power to suppress and make others conform to his dictates and sole decisions. BUILDERS seek partnership to get the best from others and give the best to the organization. He is not power driven, but partnership driven.
*CLIMBERS want to stand apart – I am the boss mentality. BUILDERS want to stand together – teamwork spirit. He sees others as teammates and treat them as such.

To build an organization that would last decades and a century, you must have to change from CLIMBERS mentality style of leadership to BUILDERS leadership style.

Leadership is a journey you travel with others, not run a race you to win.
